Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 August 2026

These terms apply when you book an in-home appliance repair with Magnetic Hill Appliance Repair. They set out what we will do, what we need from you, what things cost and what happens when something does not go to plan. Booking a visit, by phone or through the form on this site, means you accept them.

1. What we do

We repair domestic refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, cooktops and ovens in homes within the Moncton city limits. Work is carried out at your address; we do not remove appliances to a workshop. We do not install new appliances, service commercial or industrial equipment, or work on gas lines — gas connection work must be done by a licensed gas fitter.

2. Booking and arrival

We take bookings seven days a week between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM. When you book we agree an arrival window rather than an exact minute, because the length of the job before yours cannot be known in advance. We aim for same-day service where the day’s schedule allows it, but same-day availability is not guaranteed by these terms.

If we are going to fall outside the agreed window, we will call you. If you need to change the appointment, see section 9.

3. Access and safety

Someone aged 19 or over must be at the property for the whole visit. Please make sure the technician can reach the appliance, that the area around it is clear, and that pets are kept away from the work area.

If the appliance is built into cabinetry or a countertop, removing it may mark or damage the surrounding units. We will point this out before we start and will only proceed with your agreement. A technician may stop or decline work where continuing would be unsafe — for example exposed wiring, water around live electrics, or a gas smell — and the call-out fee still applies in that case.

4. Diagnosis and the call-out fee

A flat call-out fee covers travelling to you and diagnosing the fault. It is quoted before you book and does not change with the length of the diagnosis.

If you go ahead with the repair we quote, the call-out fee is dropped from the final bill. If you decide not to proceed, the call-out fee is payable and you owe nothing further.

5. Quotes and approval

We give you the price for parts and labour before any repair work begins, and nothing is started until you approve it. Prices given over the phone before we have seen the appliance are an estimate of the likely range, not a quote.

If, once the appliance is opened, we find a second fault or a different cause, we stop and tell you what it changes. You decide whether to continue at the revised price. A quote is valid for 30 days.

Where a repair would cost more than the appliance is worth, we will say so. You are free to decline, and only the call-out fee applies.

6. Parts

We carry the parts that fail most often, so many repairs are finished on the first visit. Where a part has to be ordered we tell you the expected date and book a return visit; there is no second call-out fee for that return. Delivery dates come from suppliers and can move.

We use manufacturer parts where they are available and equivalent-quality replacement parts where they are not, and we tell you which is being fitted. Parts we remove are disposed of unless you ask to keep them at the time of the repair.

7. Payment

Payment is due when the work is finished. Prices are in Canadian dollars and applicable taxes are shown on the invoice. Where a part had to be ordered, the balance is due on completion of the return visit.

8. Warranty

Every repair carries a 90-day warranty on the parts we supplied and the labour we performed, starting the day the work is completed. If the same fault returns inside that period, we come back and put it right at no charge.

The warranty covers the specific repair we carried out. It does not cover a new and unrelated fault, parts you supplied yourself, damage caused by misuse, power surges, flooding or pests, or work altered by someone else after our visit. Full details are on our warranty page.

9. Cancelling or rescheduling

You can cancel or move an appointment by calling us. What happens if nobody is home when the technician arrives, and how much notice we ask for, is set out in our cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.

10. What we are not liable for

We are insured, and we are responsible for damage we cause through our own negligence. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, for wear that was already present, for food or other contents spoiled by an appliance that had already failed, or for losses caused by a delay outside our control such as a supplier not delivering a part on time.

Except where the law does not allow it to be limited, our total liability arising from a booking is limited to the amount you paid us for that booking. Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under New Brunswick consumer protection legislation.

11. Complaints

If something about the visit or the invoice is wrong, call us first and give us the chance to fix it. That is almost always faster than any other route, and it is the reason we are a local business rather than a dispatch number.

12. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of New Brunswick and the laws of Canada that apply in it. If we change them, the date at the top of this page changes; the terms that apply to your booking are the ones published when you booked. How we handle your personal information is covered separately in our privacy policy.
