Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 August 2026

This policy explains what personal information Magnetic Hill Appliance Repair collects through this website and over the phone, why we collect it, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Who we are

Magnetic Hill Appliance Repair is an in-home appliance repair business operating in Moncton, New Brunswick. We are the organisation responsible for the personal information described here. Our contact details are at the end of this page.

2. What we collect

When you submit the booking form, we receive the name, phone number and email address you type in, together with a record that you ticked the consent box. Our form also records the page you submitted from and the IP address your device is using at that moment.

When you call us, we keep your phone number and the notes we take about the appliance and the fault. Calls may be logged by a call tracking service so we can tell which pages and campaigns lead to bookings.

When we attend a job, we record the service address, what we found, what we replaced and what was charged, because a 90-day warranty is unusable without it.

While you browse, analytics tools record technical and usage data such as approximate location, device and browser type, pages viewed and how you arrived at the site. We do not ask for, and have no use for, financial details, health information or government identifiers.

3. Why we collect it

We do not sell personal information, we do not rent or trade contact lists, and we do not send marketing messages to people who have only asked us for a repair.

4. Your consent

Ticking the consent box on the form, or giving us your details on the phone, is your consent for us to contact you about that repair. You can withdraw it at any time by telling us, and we will stop contacting you — although we may not be able to complete a booking or a warranty claim without the information it relates to. Some records must be retained even after withdrawal where the law requires it.

5. Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers to run this website and our bookings. They only receive what they need to perform their function, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

Some of these providers operate outside Canada, which means your information may be stored on or accessed from servers in other countries and can be subject to the laws of those countries. Beyond these providers, we disclose personal information only where the law requires it.

6. Cookies and tracking

This site uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and for call tracking, which swaps in a phone number so we can tell which page a call came from. Pages containing an embedded Google map may also set cookies from Google when that map loads.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site remains usable, but the embedded map may not display and our records of which pages lead to bookings will be incomplete.

7. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into a booking are kept for up to twelve months and then deleted. Records of completed repairs are kept for seven years, which covers the warranty period and the retention periods that apply to business and tax records. Analytics data is retained according to the settings of the analytics tool and is not linked by us to a named individual.

8. Your rights

Under PIPEDA you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, or ask us to delete what we are not required to keep. Call us and we will confirm your identity before acting, so that nobody can obtain your information by asking on your behalf. We respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you may raise it with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. Keeping it secure

This site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to booking records is limited to the people who need it to schedule and complete the work. No system is completely secure, so we keep only what we actually need and delete it on the schedule above.

10. Changes and contact

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.

For any question about your personal information, or to make a request under section 8, contact us:
