KitchenAid · Moncton, NB
KitchenAid tends to be the kitchen somebody paid to have built. The fridge is trimmed into a run of cabinets, the oven is bolted into a column, the dishwasher wears a matching panel. Replacing any of it is a carpentry bill as much as an appliance one, so we come and fix it.
Built-in work, done without marking the cabinets it has to come out of.
A kitchen-only brand
Five categories, because KitchenAid only builds for the kitchen. A good deal of the hardware inside is shared with its sister brands, which is the reason the ordinary wear parts are already sitting on the van rather than being ordered in.
French-door, side-by-side, bottom-freezer, built-in columns and the undercounter drawer units. Patchy frost from a defrost circuit only half working, an ExtendFresh fan whose bearings have started to sing, or a built-in humming through the cabinetry because its isolation pads have gone.
Book this repairKDTM and KDPM tubs with the third rack. The F8 and F9 families for water where it should not be and water that will not leave, plus the drying side: heater, fan or the board that runs both.
Book this repairSingles and doubles sunk into a column, where the whole unit has to come forward on runners before anyone can reach the back of it. Bake circuits that never energise, quiet convection fans, drifted sensors.
Book this repairFreestanding, slide-in and the Pro Line commercial-style ranges. Sparking without catching usually means the igniter module, worn electrodes or a poor ground. Past five years or so the module and the relay stage on the board are both fair suspects.
Book this repairGas, electric and induction, dropped straight into the counter. A single dead zone with every other one working normally, a flame that drops out as soon as you release the knob, or a glass top that has stopped answering to touch at all.
Book this repairWorth knowing: KitchenAid stopped building washers and dryers back in 2006. If you have a KitchenAid laundry pair it is at least twenty years old, and we will give you a straight answer on whether it is worth the parts before anything is ordered.

Taken from the sheet with the addresses stripped out. Two of these six were expensive-looking symptoms with cheap answers underneath, which is more often the case than people expect.
Patchy frost
Defrost only half working
KitchenAid built-in refrigerator
Cause
Ice in uneven patches across the coil and up the fan shroud, which is what a partly failing defrost circuit looks like.
Fixed
Coil cleared, defrost components tested one at a time, the failed one changed, then a full cycle watched through.
Mountain Road August Same visit
Small cubes
Ice and water both slowing
KitchenAid French-door refrigerator
Cause
Water filter well past its six months. Flow jumped straight back up the moment we pulled it out.
Fixed

Highfield August No parts, no repair
F8E4
Water under the tub
KitchenAid KDTM dishwasher
Cause
Slow weep off the inlet fitting, invisible behind a custom panel until the tray filled and the float went.
Fixed
Fitting re-seated with a new washer, tray dried, float reset, cabinet floor checked for damage. 50 minutes.

Still damp
ProDry not finishing the job
KitchenAid KDPM dishwasher
Cause
Heater working perfectly, drying fan not turning at all. Loads came out hot and wet, which confused everybody.
Fixed

Clicking
Keeps sparking after it lights
KitchenAid Pro Line gas range
Cause
Spill had dried inside the electrode housing and was holding a path open, so the module never stopped firing.

No bake
Broil fine, bake circuit dead
KitchenAid built-in wall oven
Cause
Bake side never energising while broil worked normally, which pointed past the element to the circuit feeding it.

Before you start pricing a replacement built-in, let somebody look at it. The answer is often one part and an afternoon.

With this brand the drive is the easy half. The awkward half is the last two feet: sliding a heavy unit out of an opening cut to fit it, past a quartz edge and a painted door, and putting it back so nothing shows. That is the part we plan for before we arrive.
Renovated kitchens turn up all over the city. Mountain Road and Magnetic Hill for the newer builds, Elmwood and Highfield where older houses have been redone inside, Lewisville, Sunny Brae, Parkton, the North End, the West End and Downtown for everything in between.
Tell us on the phone whether the unit is free-standing or trimmed in, and how much clearance it has. That decides what comes off the van with us.
